Our Story
The origins of TheBurg go back to when Larry Binda and Pete Durantine were young reporters at a newspaper in Washington, D.C. Many years and life changes later, Larry, Pete and Angela Durantine began to seriously plan for a new type of community newspaper for Harrisburg, one that would represent fairly this unique, beautiful city on the Susquehanna River. Our first issue hit the streets on a very cold evening around New Year's Day 2009. We have published TheBurg every month since. We hope that we have begun to fulfill our mission to tell the stories of the people who live and work here, who strive each day to make the Harrisburg area a more prosperous, engaged and caring community.

Peter Durantine is editor of TheBurg. He's been a journalist for more than 25 years, writing for the Associated Press, Philadelphia Daily News and the York Daily Record, among others. He covered the state Capitol for 15 years.
Angela Durantine is TheBurg's sales executive. She's lived in
the Harrisburg area for 25 years. She has been involved with sales for more than 15 years and has built and managed a team of 50+ in her direct selling business.
Larry Binda is the co-editor and creative director of TheBurg,
responsible for the overall design of the publication. He has worked for numerous newspapers and magazines and holds a master's degree in journalism.

TheBurg is a community newspaper that covers the area in and around Harrisburg, Pa. We publish monthly, typically a day or two before the beginning of the month. We distribute copies of TheBurg to more than 230 locations in the greater Harrisburg area, including in Dauphin, Cumberland, York, Lancaster and Perry counties. In addition, a full PDF version of TheBurg is available each month on our website. We also offer TheBurg by mail through a $20 annual subscription fee.
Key monthly dates for TheBurg include:
* 1st of the month: TheBurg is fully distributed to more than 230 locations throughout greater Harrisburg.
* 15th of the month: Deadline for all copy, including "Community Corner" and "Happenings" event listings.
* 20th of the month: Deadline for all advertising copy.
