TheBurg is Central Pennsylvania’s community news organization, offering a free monthly print publication and daily online coverage focused on the greater Harrisburg region. The print issues are published monthly, typically a day or two before the beginning of the month. We distribute copies of TheBurg to more than 500 locations in the greater Harrisburg area, including in Dauphin, Cumberland, York, Lancaster, Lebanon, Adams, and Perry counties. Our current circulation for the print magazine is 20,000+.

Over more than 17 years, TheBurg has built a reputation for quality reporting, writing and design as we serve our community in central Pennsylvania. We also have received the recognition of our peers, winning numerous Keystone Press Awards, which reward excellence in journalism, including the prestigious Sweepstakes Award for best performance in our division.

Key monthly dates for TheBurg include:

  • 1st of the month: TheBurg is fully distributed to more than 500 locations throughout greater Harrisburg.
  • 10th of the month: Deadline for all copy, including “Community Corner” and “Happenings” event listings. Submit copy to [email protected]
  • 15th of the month: Deadline for all advertising copy. Submit ads to [email protected]

Our Staff

Larry Binda is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TheBurg. He oversees all functions of the magazine, including editorial content, design and sales. He has worked for many newspapers and magazines, including as an editor, a staff writer and a contributor. Larry holds a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. Larry can be reached at [email protected].

Lauren Maurer is TheBurg’s Director of Sales and part owner for TheBurg, responsible for all aspects of TheBurg sales and growth. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Messiah College and a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Lauren is dedicated to making Harrisburg a great place to live, work and play. Natalie diSanto is TheBurg’s Sales Executive, responsible for prospecting and securing ad and sponsorship sales for TheBurg’s monthly print publication, digital products, and our Friends of TheBurg events. She founded and ran a health foods company for eight years in Colorado and has a strong history in sales with small businesses. Her strong entrepreneurial background will support your business in exceeding your marketing goals and increasing your local outreach. Contact her at [email protected].

Megan Caruso is the creative director and part owner for TheBurg and is responsible for the overall art direction and design. This includes brainstorming artwork for each article, directing layout, photography and illustration. She believes TheBurg is a true reflection of the evolving culture in Harrisburg, and is excited to be part of such a positive and talented team. In addition to working with TheBurg, she is co-founder of Sprocket Mural Works.

Maddie Gittens is managing director for TheBurg. She is responsible for producing news for the magazine and website, working with contributors and performing editor duties as needed. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Messiah College. Maddie can be reached at [email protected].
